When I moved east of the river eight years ago, there were only two places to exercise, the Anacostia Park or the D.C. recreation centers. Now our neighborhood hosts boot camps, nutritional coaching programs, personal training and yoga intensives. Maybe it is the gentrification by young professionals. But it could be a collective shift in how long time residents view health. In 2014, there are no excuses. Use the new year to uncover a new you! Jump in on one of these five health options starting this week!

Our community still needs a gym like Planet Fitness, Golds or Washington Sports Club. The more we support existing health businesses, the more likely new business will invest in our neighborhood. If you have a fitness program east of the river, email sari@anacostiayogi.com.

When SPIRIT was open I noticed that many of the people in my classes were over 40. So the want/need is out there but we needed the options. Thank you for marketing all of this because a lot of people don’t know about stuff. I would also like to add that the Washington Ballet at THEARC has adult classes and they are $6 for people who live in zipcodes 20020 and 20032.
This is excellent! Thank you Sari for your love and support.
Sari: Do you still teach yoga at the Ryland Epworth Methodist Church on S Street, SE? I’m interested in your yoga class
