So, you’re thinking about yoga teacher training (YTT)? 1. You’ll learn more about yourself than you think.

During your time at YTT you’ll dive deeper into your heart and soul than ever before. Yes, the Sanskrit terms and yoga asanas are great, but the self-exploration is even greater.

I have been managing yoga teacher trainings and immersions for close to a decade and there is always a moment of pure bliss when a student has finally broken through.

The yoga practice is a way for you to liberate the mind and body of karmic impressions or samskaras. So get ready to pave your mental, physical, and spiritual pathways!

2. It will be a physical challenge.

There is no doubt that your body will change dramatically during your YTT journey. The asanas and postures are a safe haven for purification and for the physical body to become healthier. You’ll get stronger and even more flexible each day. You’ll also discover that asanas are the doorway from the physical self to the mental self.

3. No more monkey mind.

Welcome to the hardest thing you might ever have to do during your YTT experience.  say that with excitement because challenges are opportunities, they give you the chance to focus and be present. When we control our mind, we create a world of peaceful control. The mind tends to spin out of control sometimes, but once you learn to let go and focus the mind, you’ll learn to connect the mind with the body.

4. You’ll become immersed in the journey.

Yoga is a spiritual tradition with centuries of deep knowledge created by people who are solely devoted to the practice. During YTT you will remove yourself from society, immerse yourself in ancient practices, and work on high levels of spiritual soul searching. Over time, you will learn about your soul and how it connects with the rest of the universe. This is probably the most amazing thing you will experience during your time at YTT.

5. Your teacher will be the key to your success.

The guidance you’ll receive during teacher training is invaluable. The teacher is always there to help guide you along your journey. A teacher’s guidance is something that can become life changing to someone down the line. I know when my students need me and when they are looking for more, I am always there. I become invested in their success on and off the mat.

6. You’ll build a better future.

During YTT you’ll gain a ton of knowledge and support from a tribe of students who are on the same journey as you.

There will come a time when you’ll want to give back to everyone that has supported you during your journey. And there is no better way to give back than to teach them about the yoga practice. For example, having a yoga insurance policy is great because most likely during your training, you’ll begin teaching your friends, family, maybe even co-workers.

beYogi have  amazing and affordable yoga insurance policies for teacher trainees that gives you peace of mind during and after your YTT experience.

7. You’ll create new relationships.

It’s no secret that you will struggle during yoga teacher training. There will be times when you’ll forget your sequence or mispronounce a pose in Sanskrit. But just remember you have a tribe of people surrounding you who can help you get through any struggle you might be facing. The new family you’ve acquired during YTT are on the same journey as you. You’ll all experience similar joys and struggles.

8. Knowledge will become your best friend.

During your time at YTT, you’ll learn so much about the yoga practice. However, once you’ve graduated from a YTT program, make sure you continue to study and learn.

Many people will turn to you for information and continuous knowledge once you’ve completed your training, so learn and grow as much as you can. That way you can spread knowledge with everyone, wherever you go!

9. There will be a lot of give and take.

Forget about going out and having that drink during happy hour. Instead, get ready to stay at home to work on your next yoga sequence and read the Bhagavad Gita. During your free time you’ll learn to work on yourself, your practice, and your meditations. Surround yourself with the things that will make you a better person and a better teacher.

10. The future will become more apparent.

What are you going to do after all is said and done? Let it all settle in. Let all of the hard work sink in and then begin your journey into becoming the best yoga teacher you can be. Spread your knowledge and move humanity toward awareness once you’ve become aware of it all.
