If Instagram were a yoga (asana) studio, it would be the most diverse studio in the world. This visual social media platform has done more to expand the image of asana than any Swami in the last 20 years.
I dug up 10 curvaceous and confident yoginis who prove that the asana practice is truly a test of mind over matter.

Thank you for this. I have to agree, Instagram appears to have become the place where students of yoga display their progress in the practice of asanas, which is a good thing as anything that helps spread yoga across our planet is a benefit to us all. I love the fact that you have taken the time to find curvaceous yogis! Our physical shapes are no barrier to the practice of yoga and the more we learn to live and love within ourselves, no matter what shape, the more we learn to love and live outside of ourselves. Joy to You Always….
I can’t believe I’m just finding your blog. I live in Anacostia and I’ve been trying to get into yoga as a plus woman. I’m looking for classes in the area or guidance, so I’m really happy I found this blog! I follow two awesome plus size yogis on IG as well. They are so inspirational.
This is just what I needed. People around me always believed you have to look a certain shape to be strong. And these curvaceous women are just proving them wrong. Being limber and flexible does NOT depend on size. I’ve seen a few yogis in India having a gut yet they are more well-versed in yoga. These girls are very inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
Yes!! Instagram is so inspiring. There are so many men and women who prove to the world that you can make yoga work for your body no matter what size!
