Remembering Kathy Grant: African American Pilates Elder

Kathy Grant was among the first black women to practice Pilates under the historic Joseph Pilates. She passed away on May 27, 2010. Born in 1921, Grant worked as a dancer, teacher of Pilates and collaborator. She rubbed shoulders with Cab Calloway, Pearl Bailey and taught at Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

We in the Pilates community thank Kathleen Grant for her life and legacy.
