GET ACTIVE ANACOSTIA! DC YOGA WEEK
A tide is turning east of the river and it washes ashore on May 14- May 17 with
Active Anacostia a Yoga Studio Pop-Up at Tendani Art Place on 1922 MLK Jr. Ave SE!
From the first day that I moved to Anacostia, I have always envisioned a place for healthy food, holistic health and integrated movement. My optimism waned as people would mock me and scoff at the idea that progressive health could happen in the hood. But lately, things have shifted and residents east of the river are demanding a better quality of life.

Active Anacostia is a vision come true for me! All the doubters and naysayers will be watching to see if Anacostia will support a space for visionary health. Can a mixed-space yoga studio work in Anacostia? Will people show up? Do we have a market for health and better living? We will soon find out!

I would love to come & see a holistic, active environment East of the River! Question: Are these adult only events? If so I think personally for myself that would make it impossible to attend & that might also be something to consider for the future. Great work 🙂
Hey Stephanie,
Nothing isimpossible!
Health Services for Children with Special Needs offers Yoga with child care on Tuesdays 6pm and 7pm!
They are located at 2124 MLK Jr. Avenue SE.
The classes are led by Dierdre Misty Smith!
You are truly right, nothing is impossible! Thanks so much for sharing this resource! I never knew about it. I will definitely have to check it out.
I think I need some hip hop infused yoga. I’ve got to be able to find some in NYC right?
