On November 6, 2010, HEAT Haven will host a fundraiser to encourage Anacostia’s youth to focus on plant based diet, fitness and environmental awareness.

Mind Right/Body Tight’s Fundraiser will be a chance for Anacostia to learn about HEAT Haven and how they can support their youth outreach,

Sometimes I look around and I wonder what will make Southeast healthier, happier and a more whole community? Most people will beg for a Walmart, food chains and Starbucks. But I ask that we look to alternative health options that built from the grassroots.

Until we can develop minds, we can’t expect our community to improve. An Anacostia Food Coop? A Soul Vegetarian Restaurant? Urban Gardens? and Local Music Venue would transform minds and hearts before transforming wallets and bank accounts.

But some are already too far gone and must cultivate a new generation of kids who care about their health and want to live in a community they helped to improve.
