We Are Already Royals – Maimouna Youssef Video

Maimouna Youssef is a vibrant performer who sings with power and purpose for people feeling trapped by injustices and social inequality. She recently remade Lorde’s popular “Royals” to celebrate the romantic notion of African and indigenous self love.

Maimouna aka “Mumu Fresh” filmed the video in her hometown of Baltimore on the same block where she grew up. The video was directed by Brian (B.Kyle) Atkins and reimagines the human potential if we connected to inner power and ancestral royalty. My favorite lyric from the song:
