The Yoga Diva, Dana Smith, offers up a unique treat for her Spiritual Essence yoga teacher trainees. As a part of their yoga training, they get raw food preparation classes with Chef Wana.
The trainees learned to make collard green wraps, kale salad, vegan sushi rolls and walnut sun-dried tomato filling.
Wana recommends purchasing organic when buying raw green vegetables and testing for freshness by sniffing the veggies at the grocery store.
Raw food is considered uncooked and unprocessed organic vegetables. The raw food diet has been proven to help with digestion, weight loss and an overall increase in energy.
The raw food prep workshop taught us the proper ways to chop up veggies and how to mix ingredients for maximum flavor. Chef Wana emphasized that we stock up our kitchen with the following essential tools : a good knife, a food processor and really large mixing bowls!
He explained the difference between toxins, poisons and allergens and promotes raw food as a great way to balance out our digestive system. Chef Wana also creates unique green juices and has a library of recipes that he shares with workshop participants.
Chef Wana and Dana Smith will continue to host a series of special raw food prep workshops to help yogis feel more confident preparing fresh organic food.
The Spiritual Essence Yoga Teacher training focuses on community, connection and a comprehensive wellness outlook. Yoga remains at the center of the Spiritual Essence yoga & wellness training. But these workshops also offer up the rare opportunity for yogis to explore their personal wellness goals one-on-one with experts.
