Belly Dance & Sensuality with Sunyatta

May 31, 2013

If you look up  the word “sensuality” in the dictionary, you’ll probably find Dr. Sunyatta Amen gazing at you from behind the pages. The owner of  the “Mamasita’s”  Takoma Park dance studio has mastered the art of sexy movements by sharing her unique gift of Afro-Arabian belly dance.

Sunyatta recently pulled together hundreds of women for the annual Belly Dancers of Color Festival (BOCAFEST) at the Dupont Circle Hilton.

I registered for her  “Kama Sutra Secrets of Tantric Yoga” workshop. She explained three basic principles of creating a magnetic love life:

1) Make your bedroom a sensual wonderland using scents, fruits and textured bedding.

2) Practice synchronized breathing with your partner.

3)Use the state of orgasm as an opportunity to ask the universe for your deepest desires. Hey, it can’t hurt.

I then registered for a belly dance class with Daliana Dance of Greensboro, North Carolina. We learned a simple dance that focused on fluidity and technique.

Finally, I did some shopping with vendors specializing in boutique hair, body and clothing products. My favorite was the “Quench Body Tonic” from a local hair stylist Nailah of Koumani Kinks. This minty aloe-based massage serum cooled my temples and relaxed my hair follicles. Find Koumani Kinks at www.styleseat.com /nailahclay

Other vendors showcased their one-of-a-kind creations and shared their secrets for operating a successful business.
